That words are placed before a noun or pronoun to show its relation to any other word of the sentence is called preposition.

Preposition may be arranged in the following classes :

1.  Simple Preposition :  at, in, by, of, for, on, over, under, up, to, from, out, with etc.

2.  Double Prepositions :  into, onto, within, without, from, among, towards etc. 

3.  Compound Preposition : Noun, Adjective বা Adverb এর সঙ্গে prefix এর মতো  Preposition যুক্ত হলে তকে Compound Preposition বলে।

Across = on + cross, along = on + long, behind = by + hind, beside= by + side,

4. Phrase Preposition or Prepositional Phrases : Groups of words used with the force of a single preposition are called phrase preposition or prepositional phrase.

 5. Participial Prepositions :    Some Present or Participles are used as Prepositions

6. Disguised Prepositions :     Sometimes A or O are used as Disguised Preposition

  i) Salt sells one kilo a rupee.

 ii) She comes here once a week

      Use of Preposition

1.      বিভক্তির সাথে Prepositions ব্যবহার :

কে, রে, প্রতি, দিকে, উদ্দেশ্য	To	The boy goes to school
দ্বারা, দিয়া, কর্তৃক	By (doer)/ with (instrument)	The snake was killed by Ram
জন্য	For	I waited for him
হতে, থেকে, চেয়ে	From/than	The apple fell form the tree
র, এর	Of	This is the book of Ram
এ, য়, তে	In, at	He lives in Calcutta or at Beltia.

Since / for / from

1.    Point of time বা নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে since, from বসে। এবং period of time অর্থাৎ কোন সময় থেকে কোন মসয় পর্যন্ত সময়ের ব্যপ্তি বোঝাতে for ব্যবহৃত হয়।
